| Marco Silva, Oumar Niasse and another door opens for the striker at Everton
| maxbet Reports in Turkey are suggesting Galatasaray officials are travelling to England this week to hold talks with Everton over a move for Oumar Niasse. Turkish outlet Fanatik claim that Galatasaray will be looking for a permanent deal for Niasse , who has been a long-term target for the Istanbul giants since playing in the Turkish Super Lig for Akhisar Belediyespor in the 2013-14 season.
The emergence of the Senegalese international was one of the few things to garner a smile from Evertonians in what was an otherwise dismal campaign. Maligned from the squad in the 2016/17 season by Ronald Koeman , stripped of his locker at the start of this, things looked bleak for the 28-year-old.
Toward the end of his reign, Koeman found himself under increasing pressure from the Everton fan base. After failing to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer, goals were becoming increasingly hard to come by. The £13.5million man was finally drafted into an Everton squad for the EFL cup third round game against Sunderland in September last year.
Niasse was brought off the bench on 66 minutes to a rousing reception from the Toffees’ faithful, he duly obliged with his first Everton goal. Just three days later, he made another substitute appearance, this time in the league against Bournemouth. Everton found themselves 1-0 down when Oumar arrived on the pitch. Two Niasse goals in five minutes soon changed that. maxbet
Since then, Niasse has gone on to score another six goals to bring an impressive tally of nine in 25, mainly substitute, appearances. This resurgence in Niasse’s Everton career will mean the club will be in a much better position to try and recoup some of the outlay they spent on Niasse in 2016, should they be willing to listen to offers. He was comfortably Everton’s best player on the final day of the season against West Ham, chasing down lost causes and running his proverbial socks off when those around him looked more interested in catching the flights to their summer holidays.
Despite not quite having the technical ability expected of most Premier League strikers, Niasse has proven that a strong mental attitude and a willingness to chase the lost causes can earn you a lot of goals, even if it is from the bench. With Marco Silva now the new Everton manager, it is unclear whether or not he will listen to offers for Niasse. The pair worked together during Silva’s time at Hull City and Niasse scored five goals for the Tigers during his successful stint there and both parties could benefit from keeping a familiar face around. maxbet
